| AS PRIMEIRAS BOLSISTAS CCBU - ODEBRECHT - TAM |  |

 Juruá Riqueza Castilho e Sabrina Nunes de Lima são as primeiras bolsistas CCBU-TAM-ODEBRECHT e se beneficiarão no início do ano letivo 2009-2010 (fall), da ajuda financeira que o fundo de bolsas criado em 2007 pelo Centro Cultural, com o generoso apoio da Odebrecht Construction e TAM AIRLINES.Ao celebrar seu aniversário de 10 anos, o Centro Cultural Brasil-USA, criou um fundo de bolsas de estudo a ser distribuído para alunos fluentes em português e conhecedores da cultura brasileira, em perpetuidade, no Miami Dade College. Assim, os estudantes beneficiados, além de ter a oportunidade de prosseguir seus estudos universitários, serão, no futuro, os intermediários entre o Brasil e a Flórida, e o verdadeiro legado do CCBU. Juruá Castilho nasceu e foi criada no Rio de Janeiro, onde estudou no Colégio Brigadeiro Newton Braga. “Quando eu era pequena eu queria ser médica, mas, aos 13 anos me apaixonei pelas relações internacionais e nunca mais larguei. Desde então é o que eu busco para a minha vida. Eu quero me formar e trabalhar na area de negócios internacionais, em empresas ou corporações.” Ela conhece “muita gente inteligente e que beneficiaria muito a nossa comunidade brasileira aqui na Flórida se tivesse uma chance, mas não pode estudar por que, infelizmente, não tem condição.” Segundo Juruá, a iniciativa do CCBU-ODEBRECHT-TAM beneficia a comunidade brasileira porque “atualmente há poucas bolsas disponíveis para alunos brasileiros. Com esta bolsa, nossa comunidade evoluirá, e passará a ser uma comunidade mais educada e com melhores chances para viver aqui na Flórida. Com uma melhor educação, os brasileiros vivendo aqui na Flórida terão a chance de ter melhores empregos e uma melhor qualidade de vida.” Segundo José Sampol, o diretor para a América do Norte da TAM AIRLINES, “a bolsa constitui uma oportunidade única para que os estudantes possam aprimorar o seu conhecimento sobre a língua, cultura e civilização do Brasil. Para a TAM é o reconhecimento com a sociedade através da educação. É a nossa forma de agradecer.” Não foi possível contatar Sabrina Nunes de Lima para uma entrevista. THE FIRST RECIPIENTS OF THE CCBU - ODEBRECHT TAM Scholarships Juruá Riqueza Castilho and Sabrina Nunes de Lima are the first recipients of the CCBU-ODEBRECHT-TAM scholarships at Miami Dade College, created in 2007, with the generous support of ODEBRECHT Construction and TAM AIRLINES, and will use the financial aid in the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. Upon celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Brasil-USA Cultural Center created a scholarship fund to award scholarships to talented students fluent in Portuguese and knowledgeable in Brazilian culture, in perpetuity, at Miami Dade College. The students, besides having the opportunity of continuing their college studies, will be, in the future, the intermediaries between Brazil and Flórida and CCBU’s true legacy. Juruá Castilho was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, where she studied at the military school, Colégio Brigadeiro Newton Braga. “When I was little, I wanted to be a doctor, but, at 13, I fell in love with international relationships and never abandoned it. Since then, this is what I want to do in my life. I want to graduate and work in the field of corporate international business.”. She knows several “intelligent people who could benefit our Brazilian community, here in Florida, if they had an opportunity, but who cannot study because do not have the financial condition.” In Juruá’s opinion, CCBU-ODEBRECHT-TAM’s initiative benefits the Brazilian community because “presently there are few available scholarships for Brazilian students. With these scholarships, our community will advance and will become a more educated community, with better conditions to live here in Florida. With a better education, the Brazilians living here in Florida, will be able to get better jobs and a better quality of life.” José Sampol, the TAM Airlines’ North American director, thinks that “the scholarships are an unique opportunity for the students to improve their knowledge about the language, culture and civilization.
